True, the HP Deskjet 2755E scores high on important metrics like budget printing and basic photo printing, but can we trust the ratings of online retailers?
We’ve conducted this HP Deskjet 2755E review to help you know the value the printer offers. However, you will also discover things that are not so satisfactory about the printer.
HP Deskjet 2755E Design Review
Like every other printer in the DeskJet 2000 series, the HP Deskjet 2755E features a trapezoidal design shape. However, thanks to its round edges and compact build, the printer’s overall layout look sleek and well fitting for offices or study rooms.
Moreover, the printer’s compact measurement of 16.7 x 11.97 x 6.06 inches will make it easy for you to fit it on your home desk alongside your computer.
Thanks to its lightweight 7.55 pounds, you won’t have trouble moving the printer from one place to another.
Though the printer’s light and compact form are nice-to-have characteristics, they don’t come without drawbacks. One of these drawbacks is that the HP Deskjet 2755E is mainly built with plastic, so you may want to handle it with care.
In addition, the Deskjet 2755E doesn’t feature paper trays due to its compact size. Instead, it has a vertical rear feeder with pull-out support to hold it securely.
This rear feeder can hold up to 60 sheets of office paper.
Since this feeder is on the printer’s rear side, reaching for paper jams may be difficult because you need to fit your hand through the small front compartment.
As for the front compartment, it contains a flap that folds out to form the output tray. This flap tray has secondary support that pivots to prevent your documents from falling to the floor.
You should, however, note that the fold-out tray can only conveniently hold up to 25 printed pages. For any more sheets, the printer may be unable to prevent them from falling over.
Another thing worth noting is that there’s no automatic document feeder on the top of the Deskjet 2755E printer. Instead, you get a flatbed scanner, meaning the printer will need your intervention to complete copying and scanning activities.
In addition, the printer cannot automatically print sheets with double sides. Therefore, you will have to manually flip over each page every time the printer prompts you to continue printing.
This lack of automation can get tiring, especially if you print many pages.
Fortunately, there’s one thing to be glad about. The Deskjet 2755E printer features a modest control panel on its top-left side.
This control panel consists of functional buttons with which you can set up printer operations. These buttons include Power, Cancel, Resume, Info, Color Copy, and Black Copy.
In addition, the printer’s control panel also features a 1.2-inch monochrome LCD for monitoring activity status.
HP DeskJet 2755E Performance Review – All in one
The DeskJet 2755E is a versatile printer capable of performing many activities. Amongst the things this printer can do, it can print and also supports scan and copy functionalities.
It can also print on both sides of paper sheets, but it lacks the feature to do it automatically. Therefore, if you must print on both sides of a sheet, you will have to wait for the printer to prompt you to flip over the sheet once it has finished printing on the first side.
If it is any consolation, the quality of the output you get from the DeskJet 2755E printer is fair enough. Since the machine uses an HP thermal inkjet technology, it can deliver a maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi. A printer with a high print resolution can easily achieve clearer details and better-looking prints. So you should be able to print highly detailed documents from the DeskJet 2755E if you use good paper and ink.
While that holds for texts, it is not the same as picture prints. You won’t get quality prints when it comes to pictures because the DeskJet 2755E printer has bad color accuracy.
On a test that checks the average difference between a printer’s printed color and the color reference, the DeskJet 2755E didn’t perform well. On this test, good score values are scores that are less than 5, but the DeskJet 2755E scored 10.16.
The test result showed that most colors the DeskJet 2755E can reproduce would look different from their originals. This is more noticeable with blue and natural colors.
Hence, the DeskJet 2755E is very poor at printing pictures that contain the sky, trees, and people.
HP DeskJet 2755E Scanner Review
As I mentioned earlier, the DeskJet 2755E can also perform scanning operations. Hence, it features a flatbed scanner.
Its flatbed scanner has a high maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi and good color depth. In addition, this scanner supports page sizes that are up to 8.5 inches by 11.69 inches.
Unfortunately, the lid’s hinges can’t extend to scan thick items. The scanner also doesn’t have an automatic document feeder, so it cannot automatically process scans requiring double sides.
As a result, scanning long, double-sided sheets will be stressful since you will need to flip each sheet over manually before you can scan them.
Another disappointing factor is that the DeskJet 2755E’s scanner is very slow. It can only scan 2 pages per minute which is much slower than the average 12 pages per minute.
Scanning is not the only instance of slow performance from the HP DeskJet 2755E. Its printing speed is also very slow, but we will discuss that more in the next section.
HP DeskJet 2755E Document Review
First, look at printing black and white documents on the DeskJet 2755E printer.
With the DeskJet 2755E printer, you don’t need color ink to print in black and white. So if your printer runs out of color ink, you don’t need to worry about refilling the ink before you can print in black and white.
Depending on what impresses you, you could consider that as a plus.
What we can all collectively dislike, however, is the DeskJet 2755E’s cost per print. If you don’t know what that means, cost per print is the cost of using a printer.
This metric matters a lot when you want to minimize your printing costs.
Sadly, the DeskJet 2755E has a disappointing cost-per-print. To help you understand better, I will highlight its cost per print price.
The printer has a Black-Only printing cost of 0.154 US$ per print. This is much more than the good average price of values less than 0.075 US$ per print.
Its 0.270 US$ cost for printing color documents is also a bit more than the good average price of values less than 0.15 US$ per print.
Furthermore, printing photos with the DeskJet 2755E printer is also quite expensive. It costs 0.739 US$ to print one photo with the printer.
This is more expensive compared to the average price of prices less than 0.40 US$ per photo.
Aside from pricing, there’s also the printing speed to complain about. The HP DeskJet 2755E prints black-text documents and color prints very slowly.
The printer can print just 5 black-only pages in a minute. This value is much lower than the average good value of more than 20 pages per minute.
Asides from that, the value gets worse with color documents. Sadly, the DeskJet 2755E prints just 3 color pages per minute – a deal much less than the average good value of more than 12 pages per minute.
Though this printer’s photo printing speed isn’t very fast, its speed is reasonable. The DeskJet 2755E takes 63.0s to print a photo.
This speed rate is slightly higher than the threshold of acceptable good values, which are values less than 55 seconds.
Now that we’ve gotten all that information let’s look at the document sizes the printer can use for printing.
Below is a list of the document sizes.

- Legal (8.5″ x 14″)
- A6 (105mm x 148mm)
- A5 (148mm x 210mm)
- A4 (210mm x 297mm)
Lastly, HP recommends using a maximum paper weight of 300 g/m² for printing and scanning documents. Meanwhile, you can use card stocks with a maximum weight of around 350g/m² for business cards and invitations.
HP DeskJet 2755E Review – Ink Cartridges
Good cartridges and inks usually go a long way in helping printers to deliver high-quality output.
With the DeskJet 2755E, you get dye-based and pigment-based ink to help produce colors. Meanwhile, this printer uses an HP 67 Black and Tri-color cartridges to house the above inks.
Unfortunately, the DeskJet 2755E usually produces fewer pages for both black and color prints. As a result, you would need to replace the cartridges very often.
Also, as mentioned earlier, the DeskJet 2755E features just one color cartridge. For this reason, you would constantly have no choice but to replace your entire cartilage, even if you run out of just one color.
You can get replacement cartridges in High Yield and Extra High Yield options if you want to be sure of getting efficient printing.
The HP 67 High Yield produces around 240 black and white pages and 200 colored pages. If you get the highest-yield cartridge, the DeskJet 2755E can print up to 400 pages and 330 pages for black and color.

HP DeskJet 2755E Review – Connectivity Options
The HP DeskJet 2755E doesn’t offer many connectivity options, but the options it offers are fair enough.
First, you must know that the DeskJet 2755E doesn’t feature an Ethernet port. It also doesn’t support Bluetooth for phone or tablet printing.
The DeskJet 2755E only supports Bluetooth for setup purposes; you can’t use it to print.
Also, the connectivity options on the DeskJet 2755E include USB input to a computer and direct Wi-Fi. The printer can also connect to a wireless network via a home or office router.
Another connectivity feature this printer offers is the Apple AirPrint. This feature allows you to wirelessly print with your Apple devices without installing a printer driver.
In addition, the DeskJet 2755E also supports the Mopria print service. This service is a service for Android devices.
Regarding mobile connectivity, the HP DeskJet 2755e is compatible with HP Smart. If you have access to the HP Smart app, you can perform activities like printing PDFs and photos, managing Instant Ink subscriptions, and maintenance tasks.

The HP DeskJet 2755e is an affordable all-in-one printer. Unfortunately, it has a relatively poor page yield, making it expensive to print in black or color.
Due to its slow printing speed and inability to automatically print sheets with double sides, you will need to turn each page over to complete printing manually.
This printer is not the best option if you want to print many images. This is because it has poor color accuracy and average photo printing quality.
