I Found an Apple Watch. How Do I Reset It? This was an Apple Watch I found on my way back from a trip, screen was partly broken and I’ve not been able to return it to the owner for some time. I have asked around, in hopes that I’ll find the owner, but it’s been almost impossible.

I decided to start using the device and was hoping to know if there are any options for when someone find’s a lost Apple Watch or when someone finds a long lost Apple Watch.

Ok, so I found myself in a similar dilemma. I was walking down my street recently, and I found an Apple Watch. Unfortunately, the watch was locked, and I wasn’t sure how to reset it. So I did some digging and finally reset the watch after so many trials and errors, and I thought I should share my findings in an article for you guys.

So in case you’re in a similar dilemma and are also thinking about how to reset the Apple Watch you found, this article has all the tips and tricks you can try. Mind you, when you find an Apple Watch, or pretty much any tech, you should attempt to give it to the actual owner as that would be the moral thing to do. But without further ado, here are a few things you should try if you’ve found an Apple Watch.

The first thing I’d recommend you try to do is to first completely reset the watch or do a complete wipe. Assuming the Apple Watch originally belonged to you or someone in the same household and the watch can still connect to your home wi-fi, I recommend you do a complete wipe using the FindMy app.

1. Contact the Apple Help Line

When I once had a situation where my mac had a password I couldn’t remember, I contacted the Apple care line, and they were able to help me change the password. I did the same thing with my found Apple Watch, and they changed the password, and I could use my watch again. No doubt, this is only likely to work if you own the Apple Watch. If it were lost by someone else, this option wouldn’t work for you.

2. Manual Reset of the Apple Watch

If you cannot access the settings feature of the Apple Watch you found, I recommend you put your Apple Watch on its charger >> press and hold the side button until you see the power OFF option. You need to press and hold the Digital Crown and select Reset afterward.

3. Take it to the courier

I got my Apple Watch from AT&T and was able to get one of the watches I wanted to unlock sent to them, and they were able to unlock it for free. These companies have a record of the IMEI on your account, and should you need a reset of an Apple Watch you found and have forgotten the password; they’re all too willing to assist you. This option would only work for those with Cellular Apple Watches and not those without cellular.

4. Reset using an iPhone

To do this, you will want to ensure that your iPhone and the Apple Watch are kept close. Next, you’ll want to launch the Apple Watch app on your iPhone >> Tap on My Watch >> select General >> tap on Reset>> select the Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings >> and now you’ll have to wait while the Apple Watch gets reset, and you’ll then have to set everything up from scratch. It’ll look like when you newly got your Apple Watch.
