The fan could become slightly or completely disconnected if the laptop falls and sometimes during a replacement (especially when done by someone with little or no experience) the fan may not have been connected to the right location or the replacement may not be compatible.

How to Fix ASUS CPU Fan Error
When trying to fix the ASUS CPU fan error, the first thing you should do is clean the CPU fan. To do this, you should turn off your laptop or PC and disconnect it from the power source. Then open the case, you should only do this if your device is made to be opened. After opening the case, simply use an air gun or canned air to push whatever dust, dirt, or debris that might be stuck in the fan. When this is properly done, you can connect the device to power and turn it ON to see if it worked.
Fix 2: Reconnection
As earlier stated, one of the possible causes for the ASUS CPU fan error is the disconnection of the CPU fan. This can easily be fixed by removing and then reconnecting the fan to the right location. To do this, you would need to confirm that you can fix it without running into problems, otherwise, you should get a technician to do it.
- First, turn OFF your computer and disconnect it from power.
- Then, remove the case and check that the fan is not loose or disconnected.
- If it is, simply remove and reconnect. Then, tighten the screws.
- If that doesn’t work, check the location of the fan, the CPU fan should be connected to the CPU header on the motherboard. If it isn’t, simply connect it properly, the CPU header is usually labeled ‘CPU Fan’.

Fix 3: Change Fan Settings in Bios
Another fix you can try when facing the ASUS CPU fan error is to edit some of the fan settings in BIOS. BIOS is an interface that is usually used for troubleshooting and computer maintenance. If you have confirmed that your CPU fans are working as they should but the error still pops up, you can reduce the default fan speed in BIOS.
- Boot into BIOS on your device by clicking the F2, F12, or DEL buttons
- Go to ‘Advanced Settings’ and navigate to the CPU fan settings
- Search for the setting that controls RPM warnings
- The default value is usually 600 RPM, you can change this to 300 RPM
- Then, save the change, exit BIOS and boot your system
Fix 4: Change CPU Fan

Fix 5: Ignore Alert
If you are sure that your CPU fans are working as they should but the error doesn’t go away, you can stop the computer from checking the operation of the CPU fan which will take the error away. You should note that doing this will prevent your computer from detecting overheating issues later on.
- Boot into BIOS on your device by clicking the F2, F12, or DEL buttons
- Select Power tab and then ‘Hardware monitor’
- Click on CPU FAN SPEED and switch it to IGNORED
- Also, click on CHASSIS FAN SPEED and switch it to N/A
- Then, click on POWER FAN SPEED and switch it to IGNORED
- Save the changes, exit BIOS and boot your system
