If you are an AT&T customer or a Verizon customer, the notification “welcome to Verizon wireless your call cannot be completed as dialed” is something you would likely have heard when trying to make a phone call.
For some of you, you are receiving this notification when trying to make a phone call on a newly registered plan, while for some, you’ve been using your plan for some time, and these error messages are suddenly surfacing when you’re trying to make a phone call either to or from one particular carrier.
This article will go into detail to demystify this automatic notification; we’d also examine what options are available for fixing these issues.
What Causes The “Welcome to Verizon Wireless Your Call Cannot Be Completed As Dialed Please Try Again Later” Notification?
When you’re trying to make a phone call, and the automated message says that “your call cannot be completed as dialed please try again later”, then there are issues with the number or phone you’re are calling, issues that make it that the device isn’t able to receive phone calls (even with these issues, you’ll only hear this automated message often because the user doesn’t have a voicemail which the network provider forwards the call). Some common issues that result in the “welcome to Verizon Wireless your call cannot be completed as dialed please try again later” call intercept message are:
- You are calling a number using the wrong format, either a number is missing, or you’re using the wrong international calling code. Checking and correcting the number format will often fix things if this is the issue.
- The second probable cause of the “welcome to Verizon Wireless your call cannot be completed as dialed please try again later” notification is a phone number that is no longer in use. If a customer stops using their number and allows their mobile plan to expire, the phone number in question becomes unreachable.

- Another reason for this automated notification will be that the phone number you are calling can’t be reached at that time. If a customer has their phone switched OFF or they are in an area with no network coverage, then the “welcome to Verizon Wireless your call cannot be completed as dialed please try again later” automated message will be heard when trying to call them.
- Another possible cause for this intercept message could be from your side of things, as the local exchange that handles your outgoing calls is being overloaded at that moment or having some issues, in which case you just need to wait for some time before retrying the call.
- You’d also want to be sure either your carrier or the receiver’s carrier is not having issues. If any of the carriers are having issues, it’s common for customers to have issues receiving or placing a call between the two carriers.
- If you are responding to a number that was left on your caller ID, chances are that the number is a spoofed number used by telemarketers, robocalls, and fraudsters.
- Lastly, the “your call cannot be completed as dialed please try again later” intercept message could be caused if the number you’re calling isn’t configured correctly in the necessary PSTN databases. Generally, you wouldn’t have to do anything if this is the case. You can always place a call across to the carrier to investigate this.
